Long distance rates

TELUS offers a wide range of long distance calling options, as well as competitive rates, convenient plans and great savings with calling cards. Special needs clients also receive long distance discounts. See below for details.

Alberta rates

• Long distance calls originating in Alberta placed through the TELUS Relay Service are charged one half of the toll rate per minute (or a fraction thereof) on calls terminating in Alberta or Canada.
• Calls placed to the U.S. or overseas are not eligible for the 50% discount.
• Calls billed to the originating phone number are charged direct dialled rates.

British Columbia rates

• Long distance calls originating in BC placed through the TELUS Relay Service are charged one half of the basic toll rate per minute (or a fraction thereof) on calls terminating in BC or Canada OR are rated according to the client's applicable TELUS Long Distance Plan*.
• Calls billed to the originating telephone number are charged direct dialled rates.

Alternate billing options

Calling cards

Long distance calls may be conveniently billed to your TELUS calling card when you are away from your home phone. Just provide your calling card number to the TRS operator.

Collect calls

Long distance calls can be billed to the recipient's number if the person answering the telephone authorizes the charge. Just request a collect call and give the TRS operator your name and the number you are calling.

Billing to another number

You may also charge your long distance call to a third number – either your own (if you are not calling from your own number at the time), or another number willing to accept the charges. Just request 'bill to third number' and give the TRS operator the number you would like to bill the call to, the number you are calling, and your name. The operator will then call to see if someone at that number will accept the charges.

Person-to-person

You can request a person-to-person call to have the long distance charges commence only when the person you have asked to speak with is on the line. Note: this type of long distance call is more expensive.
